Online violin education for adult players worldwide

Technique built through understanding, structure and precise technical work.

Explore focused programmes in intonation, vibrato and violin technique, or work directly with Margarita through Private Violin Mastery Mentorship.

Many adult violinists work hard for years and still feel that something essential is missing. The problem is often not effort, but the absence of a clear technical and musical system.

My work is designed for violinists who want to understand what is limiting their playing, organise their technique more intelligently, and make progress with greater clarity and direction.

Private mentorship combines precision, artistic understanding and individual guidance. The aim is not only to correct isolated issues, but to help you build a more reliable, confident and expressive way of playing.

THE METHOD

Reliable playing is not built by repeatedly correcting the same visible mistakes. It develops through understanding the system behind them: how the ear, body, movement, hand organisation and musical intention work together before the note is played. My teaching focuses on those underlying relationships. Instead of asking a student to repeat more, I look for the reason a problem keeps returning and build the technical understanding that allows the player to solve it with greater independence. The aim is not dependence on a teacher. It is to develop a player who understands what they are doing, why it works and how to continue progressing on their own.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

Violin Lessons For Kids and Adults in Melbourne, VIC Australia and Online

Jessie Strickland

Margarita is a great teacher - I took violin for a few years when I was a child and hadn't played in 15+ years. I have now had lessons with Margarita for a bit over a year and have noticed great progress. Additionally, I work a corporate job and she has worked with me doing lessons either in person or virtually which has helped me fit this in with my busy schedule. She is always pleasant and makes sure she challenges me. Thank you!

My son had been learning Violin for four years in a different music school before he joined Melbourne Violin Academy. The violin teacher turnover was high in the previous music school and at one point, they couldn't find a replacement teacher. That is when we found Margarita. My son's violin techniques, posture, and intonation improved significantly since he started training with Margarita. He also passed grade 3 & 4 AMEB repertoire exams within a short period of 15 months. Margarita has a natural talent in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of her students and devising teaching methods that bring out the best in them. By watching her lesson delivery, I have also learnt many transferable skills that can be applied to areas other than music. Margarita is a passionate and dedicated violin teacher and I highly recommend her to anyone who would like to learn violin.

I am so glad we found Margarita at Melbourne violin academy! She has been beyond amazing with teaching and supporting our daughter! We have seen such a magnitude of improvement with our daughters skills and her love for the violin has really blossomed into something else! I can’t recommend Margarita more highly; I really don’t believe there’s a teacher out there who can match her let alone beat her!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who do I work with? I work primarily with adult violinists, including returning players, committed amateurs, advanced students and musicians who want to understand and reorganise specific technical problems rather than continue correcting the same symptoms.

Who is Private Mentorship for? Private mentorship is for players who want direct individual work around their current technique, repertoire and technical development. It is a three-month hybrid process combining private sessions with personalised educational material and work between sessions.

Do I need to be an advanced player? No. The most important requirement is that you are able to engage with the violin independently and are willing to observe, experiment and take an active role in your development. Individual programmes may have their own entry requirements.
