A 12-Week Online Violin Intonation Programme

Most violinists know when they are playing out of tune. The frustrating part is that they often don't know why it keeps happening. The issue is often not a lack of practice. It is that nobody has ever shown you how intonation actually works. Reliable intonation develops from the relationship between your ear, your left hand, your body awareness, your attention and the way you practise. When one of these elements is missing, your pitch becomes inconsistent, even after years of lessons.

This programme is designed to help you begin rebuilding that system. We work towards understanding why notes become inaccurate, how to recognise the cause, and how to develop a more reliable approach to practising and performing.

During the programme we may work on:

• understanding the real causes of poor intonation

• developing more reliable left-hand organisation

• improving listening skills while playing

• building practice habits that support long-term technical development

Every student is different. Some experience noticeable changes quickly, while others require considerably more time. The purpose of this programme is not to promise perfect intonation within twelve weeks, but to establish the technical understanding, awareness and practice strategies required for long-term improvement.

Who is this programme for?

This programme is generally suitable for violinists working between approximately Grade 1 and Grade 5 standard.

You should already be able to:

• hold the violin and bow independently

• tune your instrument independently

• read basic music

• practise between lessons

Formal examination experience is not required.

Who is this programme NOT suitable for?

This programme is not intended for complete beginners who have never played the violin.

Students working on advanced repertoire (approximately Grade 6 and above) who require extensive technical reconstruction should first apply for an individual assessment.
